Buses, trucks, drivers and the backing order
Bus and trucking companies, brokers and carriers, the head driver on CB, the backing order and who to call. · 1:48
Transcript
This tour moves on three buses and four semis.
Every vehicle shows who rides where, down to the bunk, plus the Wi-Fi.
Real tours get vehicles from more than one place.
Here that's two bus companies,
a trucking company,
and a freight broker who hired two independent carriers.
Each company has its own contacts: dispatcher, after hours, owner, safety and billing.
Insurance dates are tracked, and an expired certificate is flagged right away.
Rates and billing notes are for managers only.
Tess is the head truck driver.
She organizes the trucks and helps them back into tight docks over CB channel 19.
North Charleston has one short dock door.
Truck one goes first, the others stage in the side lot, and truck four stays loaded.
Every truck driver sees the order and the CB channel on their phone.
And every vehicle answers the question, who do I call?
The driver, the company's dispatch – after hours first when it's late – the broker, and the head driver, each with Call and Text.
Long drives are checked against driving-hour rules, so a relief driver or a layover gets planned early.
